Chocolate is one of the most classic holiday gifts one can give. Nearly every holiday food gift set contains a little morsel whether it is a chocolate bar or hot chocolate mix. But did you know that making your own chocolate bars could be as simple as mixing together a few ingredients which you probably already have in your pantry?
You can personalize this recipe for homemade chocolate as much as you’d like. Add any special toppings to the chocolate before it cools, and you will have a pretty, yummy gift with a personal touch. Our favorite toppings are slivered almonds with dried cranberries, chopped pistachios and a light sprinkling of ground cinnamon, slivered almonds with a sprinkling of course sea salt, or chopped pistachios with dried tart cherries.
Since this homemade chocolate is held together with coconut oil, you must remember to keep it refrigerated if your home is warm—coconut oil melts at about 76 degrees Fahrenheit. You can also substitute the agave nectar for honey if that’s what you prefer.
